TIMESINDONESIA – TIMES Indonesia Award 2020 presented Special Achievement Award to Imam Shamsi Ali. His dedication to introduce a peaceful Islam to the foreign country especially in the USA has made him chosen to receive the award.
Imam Shamsi Ali was born in Makassar, South Sulawesi on October 5, 1967. He arrived in New York in 1996 after studying in Islamabad. He served as an imam to an Indonesian community mosque in Long Island City, Queens.
He is now appointed as the president of Nusantara Foundation. During his time in USA he has taken an important role of introducing peaceful Islam to the local community. He emphasizes the tolerance between other as what Islam has thought him.
