Suara.com - Hari raya Waisak jatuh pada tanggal berbeda tiap tahunnya. Akan tetapi, umumnya jatuh pada bulan Mei, bergantung pada penandaan di kalender Buddha. Ada berbagai rangkaian acara yang dilaksanakan umat Buddha untuk perayaan waisak antara lain meditasi, kebaktian, dan pindapatta.
Secara garis besarnya waisak merupakan festival yang dirayakan umat Buddha untuk tiga peristiwa penting perjalanan hidup Buddha. Tiga peristiwa tersebut ditandai dengan kelahiran Buddha Gautama, perjalanan menuju pencerahan sempurna, dan keberangkatan Buddha atau kematian Buddha yang disebut Parinibbana.
Waisak dirayakan ketika bulan purnama, karena itu tanggal peringatan Waisak bisa berubah-ubah tiap tahunnya. Adapun acara puncak Waisak 2025 akan tiba pada tanggal 11 Mei 2025 dengan pelepasan lampion di malam hari. Acara masih berlanjut di pagi harinya tanggal 12 Mei 2025.
Kementerian Agama (Kemenag) merancang beberapa kegiatan untuk menyambut Hari Raya Waisak. Kegiatan itu dilaksanakan pada 11 April 2025-12 Mei 2025. Kegiatan ini disebut Veskha Snanda yang berarti gembira dan berbuat kebaikan. Kegiatan yang berjalan selama sebulan itu bersifat ritual dan non-ritual.
Kegiatan tersebut mencakup pendalaman dhamma, pembacaan Paritta di Vihara, Cetiya, dan kampus. Lalu, ada pembacaan Dhammapada, gerakan Vikla bhojana, gerakan Atthlasla di hari Uposatha dan Dhammatalk. Ada pula kegiatan menanam pohon dan donor darah.
Tradisi perayaan waisak juga terjadi sampai ranah keluarga. Keluarga penganut Buddha biasanya akan mendekorasi rumah dengan lentera. Mereka juga akan memakai pakaian putih dan bertukar ucapan dengan teman. Anda juga dapat memposting poster perayaan waisak ke sosial media untuk ikut merayakannya.
